Statement
To me, drawing must be an adventurous and curious process.
Through the use of a multimedia approach; a collage of video recordings, sounds, materials, visuals and emotions my work provides a multitude of viewpoints on our world, our history and humankind.
This body of work is interested in historical layering in relation to my engagement with the site Malabar headland.
Malabar Battery was a coastal defence battery built in 1943 for World War 2.
This site is constantly in a state of flux and speaks to layers and activity. Since the soldiers to the graffiti wanderers today, a range of archeology has been left behind. Abandonment but at the same time, inhabitance.
When i consistently revisit this site i see and think of several things concurrently.
There is a picture and theres another picture on top of it.
With a strong sense of nostalgia and my connection to frequently visiting throughout my life.
My work represents a way of seeing this site and ultimately my world. Putting together things in order to reveal the rational layers of malabar headland.
